CHRISTMAS IN PROGRESS

I've been re-doing my Christmas room box. New wallpaper, flooring and tree, and a tweaking of other items. I made the candelabra from a Kilkenny kit, and built the tree from a GJ's kit. The tree decorations are temporary. I have been madly making a lot of ornaments (and mess) LOL! but didn't get them finished in time. Luckily I found a lot of ornaments that had been packed away, and rushed to put them on Christmas Eve, since it was the only tree we had this year.
I'll be adding and tweaking during the year. My minis (like life) are always "Works In Progress"
(wreath was made by Karen Brown, purple angel and tree on mantle by Nancy Day, penguin by Kristina Wallace, place mats and napkins by Joanne Weinberg, Santa table by Doreen Johnson, beaded angel by unknown artisan)

DIY MINI LINKS

After 15 years the DIY mini links web site ( LINK LADY MINI LINKS ) is in danger of shutting down, due to lack of interest.
If you want to see the site remain active and updated, as it has been regularly, for all these years, please up the count of visitors by promoting the site to your friends. ( LINK LADY MINI LINKS )
This is not for $ purposes. I no longer have to pay to host the site, but do spend a lot of time on it. If the site is no longer of use to my fellow mini DIY'ers, I will take it down, and spend the time on other mini endeavors.

PAINT CANS #2

The self adhesive wasn't working today (for some strange reason) so I had to use super glue gel.
If you use an old pie pan, you could always cover the tops with tin foil. It will mold nicely on the fimo discs.
If you have the mirror material and you don't want to use colored discs, and don't like the silver polish or paint (I personally think they are not a good match), you could use silver foil on the discs.
If you have tons of old fimo, you could make enough discs to make the can solid. With the measurements I gave you, one of the discs would need to be thinner.
I'm not putting handles on these as they will sit piled on a shelf in the Mini Mart.
To attach wire you can glue an ear ring back on each side (or a smaller finding) and glue your wire into it.
I experimented to come up with these because the ones made out of paper with the sliced tops and bottoms just looked like ill fitting paper to me.

EASY PAINT CANS #1

MATERIALS
circle template
9/16" fimo cutter
pasta machine
fimo or skulpy the color of the paint
self adhesive mirror roll (you may use a disposable pie pan or other tin or metal product, and suitable glue, if you don't have the mirror roll)
label for your paint can
INSTRUCTIONS
roll clay on setting "1
cut four 9/16" circles from the rolled clay
stack the circles in 2's
take your circle template and place the 15/32" hole on top (centered) of the circle. press down lightly to give the impression of a can top.
Bake your circles.
Cut a piece from the mirror roll, 2 and1/8" by 13/16"
Gloss only the tops of your clay circles. Let dry.
Glue the mirror or metal to your fimo circles, line up top and bottom evenly. the middle of the can will be hollow.

Create a paint can label in your computer, or find one on-line, or scan and reduce a real one. This should be a bit shorter than your can, so that the metal shows a bit on the top and bottom.
If you need more pictures of clearer instructions give me a holler.
ENJOY!
The picture shows my first attempt. I used chrome nail polish on these fimo discs, and decided I would like to use the colored discs instead. Our paint store now carries paint with colored tops.

MISS WITCH

I haven't felt like talking or writing lately, so I thought I'd post a few photos. I made this witch a few years ago for a celebration box. She's about 1.5 inches tall.

MINI LINKS

New Links are added frequently. The site is often checked for dead links. This is the "ORIGINAL" DIY Mini Links Site established in 1996. This site is dedicated to all of those who helped me when I was a newbie.

BUNKA RUG

This is a large bunka rug 5x7" that I made for my mini family room. The "real" dog hairs look HUGE here. I need a cleaning lady. ;-)

THORNHILL DINING ROOM

I finished this is October, but with all that happened, I never Blogged it. The china cabinet, table and chairs and side board are WIP's. I'm making them from HOM kits. A very slow process for me. :-)

1/2 SCALE DOLLHOUSE DOLLHOUSE

A friend gave me a kit for this dollhouse for a 1/2 scale dollhouse. My first attempt at building so small. Is this 1/288? In hindsight, I think I should have used lighter paint colors for something so small.

SHE'S BACK 2

Next I tried a few things from Joann Swansons Easter Blog. I added those to minis I had been gifted, or had made over the years. The beanie baby box is temporary as this is still a WIP.

SHE'S BACK

After losing my home it was very difficult getting back into minis. The biggest challenge is finding places to put things since most of my buildings are in storage. I started with a Valentine project with my Phoenix group.

SUPER PAINTING TIP

When painting items that need several coats, instead of washing the brush out every time, while waiting for the paint to dry, or putting it in a damaging brush bin, or taking the time to wrap it in plastic, drop it brush side up into an empty water bottle. Cap the bottle and the brush will stay moist and supple. When you're ready to use it again, just open the bottle and tilt it a bit, until the brush handle comes out enough for you to grab it, without getting paint all over your fingers. Be sure to clean out the brush at the end of the day, as it will not stay moist in the bottle indefinitely.

RETURN TO MINIS

This is a mini moving box that I made many years ago.
Its a fitting photo, for where I'm at these days. It will be a few more weeks before I'm totally moved out of the house.
But I'm happy to report that I'm settled into the mobile, and back to making minis again.
I'm working on re-doing my Christmas room box and Paper Minis Complimentary Valentines. http://www.paperminis.com/
Its so good to be creating again.
Welcome to my new followers. I'll be stopping by your blogs soon.
